West Bridge Training Facility
Modern Warfare 4 Kill Block
Kill Block is the first Call of Duty map designed to change its architecture between matches and Gunfight rounds. Infinity Ward built it at West Bridge Training Facility from two End Slabs and a Central Slab. Combinations include heritage layouts such as Crash, Shoot House, and Killhouse. More than 500 configurations punish memorized headglitches. It is not one of the twelve core 6v6 maps; it is its own mode family, including Gunfight 3v3, 6v6, and 10v10.
The playbook is on how to play Kill Block. This page is the map brief: what a slab is, why your UAV habits fail, and how to pick a loadout that survives a layout you have not seen.
Slabs, not lanes
Think of Kill Block as two end pieces and a middle that the game snaps together. A long sightline in match one can become a two-room CQB maze in the next Gunfight round. Pre-aiming the same doorway is how you donate first blood. The winning habit is to read the opening camera: if you spawn looking at a skybridge, you have a mid-range slab; if you spawn inside a garage, you have a shotgun slab.
Because configurations repeat over a long session, you will start to recognize families of layouts rather than unique IDs. Name them yourself: “cross garage,” “tower mid,” “three-lane yard.” The name is a memory hook, not an official callout. Core map callouts still live on core maps.
Gunfight, 10v10, and why equipment matters more
Kill Block’s beta playlists leaned on Gunfight and a 10v10 variant. Gunfight loadouts are often preset; 10v10 lets Create-a-Class breathe. Trophy systems and stun grenades outperform lethals that assume a known catwalk. Overkill is bait — you cannot cover every possible range on a map that has not loaded yet. Take one flexible primary from the tier list (M4 or ISO Nightshade) and win the first gunfight, not the theoretical one.
Killstreaks that require map knowledge (most precision streaks) are weaker here than a UAV or a portable radar. You are scouting a new building every round. Play it like a search of a house you have never entered, not like Raid.
Practice without wasting a night
Queue Kill Block for thirty minutes, then leave. The skill you are training is first-contact decision speed, the same skill the Mobility Course trains in empty space. Pair a session with the movement guide so mantle-to-slide is available when a slab drops a car hood in your lane.
For the rest of the 6v6 pool, return to maps. For a video-led tour of early Kill Block gunfights, the how-to page embeds Handler’s beta footage in the middle of the article.

Frequently asked questions
Is Kill Block one of the 12 core maps?+
No. It is a separate modular map used for Gunfight and related playlists.
Do layouts change mid-round?+
They reconfigure between matches and after Gunfight rounds (typically every two rounds), not while you are mid-gunfight.
What gun should I take into Kill Block?+
A flexible AR or SMG. The M4 and ISO Nightshade covered most slabs in the beta.
