Modern Warfare 4 Operators
MW4 splits its people into two lists that players keep mixing up. Campaign characters are the story. Multiplayer operators are skins you queue with. Vault’s Hostile Alliance pack puts Price, Valeria, Ghost, and Blix into the beta and into launch multiplayer — that does not mean Ghost is Price’s ally in the story. The split is on story.
This page names both lists so a Barracks screenshot matches a briefing. For what Vault actually costs, use Vault Edition. For the one mission you can already play, Entrenched.
The campaign squad
Private Park Hyun Jun (Young Mazino) is the Korean recruit the trailers sell as a grunt, not a Tier One fantasy. Narrative director Jeff Negus named the rest of the marine squad in the Xbox Wire campaign briefing: Jay, Cho, and Moon, plus First Lieutenant West (Luke Tennie), the embedded U.S. Marine. They are conscripts and NCOs shoved into a live invasion, not a celebrity operator roster.
Captain John Price (Barry Sloane) is the other campaign lead: wanted after killing General Herschel Shepherd in Modern Warfare III, running an off-book hunt that collides with the Korean war. Valeria Garza (María Elisa Camargo) is an uneasy partner. Simon “Ghost” Riley (Samuel Roukin) is in conflict with Price. Do not read a Vault skin as a story spoiler.
Default multiplayer operators in the beta
The official Open Beta brief listed free operators you could use without Vault: Coffey and Blackwell (JSOF), Reece (US SF), Park and Kal (ROK). Those names are MP identities. Campaign Park and MP Park share a face language; they are not the same unlock tree.
Finishing moves in that brief were mostly “Footwork” on the free set. Vault operators shipped unique finishers: Price “Blow by Blow,” Valeria “Cut And Dry,” Ghost “Good Point,” Blix “Tanto Tactics.” Price and Valeria toggle masked and unmasked through the emote system.
Vault packs, named
Hostile Alliance: Price, Valeria, Ghost, Blix. Special Forces: SAS (United Kingdom), KSK Amphibious (Germany), COM SFT (France), SK Special Forces (South Korea), each with a local-language voice pack. These were playable in the beta if you pre-ordered Vault. They do not add campaign missions.
If a friend asks whether they “need” operators: no. Standard includes the game. Vault is cosmetics plus BlackCell and a DMZ kit. Compare on edition compare.

Frequently asked questions
Is Ghost on Price’s side in MW4?+
In the campaign briefing, no. Ghost is at odds with Price. A Vault Ghost skin does not change that.
Can I play as Park in multiplayer without buying Vault?+
Yes. Park was a default beta operator. Vault is for Hostile Alliance and Special Forces packs.
Do Vault operators work in the campaign?+
No. They are multiplayer / Warzone operators, not mission unlocks.
