Twelve 6v6 arenas
Modern Warfare 4 Core Maps
These twelve maps are the launch 6v6 pool. Official descriptions come from Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: NEXT briefing. Beta availability is noted so you know which layouts you have already walked. For the shapeshifting extra map, switch to Kill Block.
Lane length should drive your loadout. Lithium and Coal punish SMG-only classes. Lotus and Silkworm punish snipers who refuse to rotate. Transit 213 is the chaos map; treat it like a warm-up, not a ranked teacher.
The twelve, with locations
Cachette sits on the outskirts of a French rail terminal: wine warehouse and mechanic’s garage converted into a covert armory. Tight, multi-level flanks. It was in the beta. Coal is a Soviet coal plant in mountains — fallen smokestack, ore chutes, slurry river. Longer rifles belong here.
Lithium is Corporación Mexicana de Litio’s refinery under the Sierra, a dusty industrial mid-range fight, also in the beta. Lotus is a Korean fishing village after an amphibious assault: market, hostel, boathouse, gardens. Mumbai hides a fugitive in a Victorian market with a rail line through residential blocks. Munition is a North Korean command facility with a munitions depot, skybridge, and hangars; expect a mid-match spectacle.

Nautical through Transit 213
Nautical is a South Korean ferry pulling away from a conflict zone at dawn, debris and fire on the starboard side — Wet Work energy without being a remake. Reactor U92 (also listed as Reactor 92) is the nuclear facility cousin to the campaign’s plant. Rooftops is snowy New York hotel roofs, vertical and already in the beta. Sentry (sometimes listed as Sentinel in early roundups) is a snowy military base with open fields.
Silkworm is a Korean shopping district with a subway pulse through it, grounded CQB. Transit 213 is an overgrown parking lot packed with derelict colorful buses, a repair shop, a gas station, and tenement blocks — the beta’s closest thing to a 24/7 party map. Learn two headglitches and then leave; ranked will not live here.
How to learn a map in one hour
Play Hardpoint, not TDM. Watch the first rotation without shooting if you have to. Then run the Mobility Course instincts — mantle-to-slide — on the same map’s mid vehicles and counters. The movement guide is the skill; this page is the terrain.
When you are ready for the map that refuses to stay still, open Kill Block and the Kill Block guide. For the parent index, go back to maps.

Frequently asked questions
Which core maps were in the MW4 beta?+
Cachette, Lithium, Lotus, Rooftops, Silkworm, and Transit 213, plus Kill Block as a separate experience.
What is the closest map to Shipment?+
Transit 213, the bus depot. It is not the original Shipment layout.
Is Reactor U92 the campaign power plant?+
It is a related nuclear facility aesthetic, not a 1:1 copy of the Entrenched mission space.
